The Beauty Of Ancient House In Hanoi Old Quarter

Situated on Ma May street, the address 87 is one of a few ancient houses which is conserved and preserved as a landmark providing information on human history as well as Hanoi capital.

This is kind of traditional house in the old quarter of Hanoi with tubular architecture; two floors are made of ironwood combined with terracotta tiles and dragon scale roof tiles. The outside room has large frames that were formerly used a trading place.

Household items are mainly made of wood, ceramics and traditional rattan.

The current arrangement partly recreates the space of the old house. Standing in the old house, you will feel the peace, tranquility and memories of the old Hanoi.

Total area of the house is 157.6 square meters, built perpendicular to the street, and has a length of 28 meters, façade area of 5 meters wide and the width of behind face of 6 meters.

You must go through an old wooden staircase to upstairs. Inside are a couch and an earthenware teapot placed above. This is where the old homeowners used for seating.

Currently, the old Ma May house attracted both domestic and international tourists. On weekend evenings, it takes place cultural exchange activities such as ca tru art.

In addition, the pavilion also showcases and promotes many traditional handicrafts: wind paper paintings, lacquer, Dong Ho, or some ethnic instruments, etc.

The antique house is daily opened from 8am to 8pm. Ticket is VND10,000. Lunch time is from 12pm to 1:30 pm, travelers should avoid visiting at this time.
